Packrafting!
If you have never tried packrafting consider it suggested because it is one of the only things I have ever done where I am absolutely terrified but laughing uncontrollably. This summer is going to be sweet! Also, check out Roman Dials blog theroamingdials he is a packraft legend!
This is Troy on the right and Me (Phil) on the left after a really fun day in our packrafts. Many more adventures to come this summer I am sure.
Plan B?
Every night before I go to bed I scour the internet for the "La Leyenda". Close friends and family know of our mission and will occasionally send a link to their idea of the perfect boat for Troy and me.
Troy and I are both in love with the Thomas Colvin design, the steel hull, junk rigged Gazelle. We feel this would be the perfect boat for us. Unfortunately the particular Gazelle we have been watching in California just sold. Good for that guy or girl. A great boat and hey, I am not bitter (It is hard to type sarcasm). We have one more Gazelle on our radar and if that boat is a no go then we might resort to "Plan B". This will mean that the Gazelle might not be the boat for us. I guess one would say bad timing.
The La Leyenda mission seems so far away without the possession of a boat. It is pointless to approach potential sponsors or really dive head on into planning when a boat AKA the backbone of our trip is just out of our reach. This summer will be a huge turning point for the La Leyenda crew as we settle on a boat and can actually start becoming more than ambitious dreaming and transform into ambitious action!
What about a Weatherly 32?
